2019 Best School Districts in Oregon

A company called Niche researches U.S. colleges, schools, neighborhoods, and companies. They recently released their school district rankings. The 2019 Best School Districts ranking is based on rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents using data from the U.S. Department of Education. Ranking factors include state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores, teacher quality, public school district ratings, and more. Greater Albany Public Schools ranked #8 in the state of Oregon with an Overall Niche Grade of B+.

escolares. La clasificación de los mejores distritos escolares del 2019, se basa en un

GAPS Co-Sponsoring Bullying Prevention Presentation

Linn Together, a countywide network of volunteers with the mission to strengthen local prevention networks, has partnered with several local organizations, including GAPS, to present “Bullying Prevention in School and Cyber Settings”.   Parents, school staff, and other adults in the community can help kids prevent bullying. Join national bullying expert Dr. Michael Sulkowski, PhD, University of Arizona, for an interactive presentation on bullying prevention in both school and cyber settings.

The presentation will take place on October 17, 2018 from 9:00 – 11:00 am at Boulder Falls Center in Lebanon.  The event is free, but registration is required and space is limited.  Please register by October 10.  For additional information and registration, please see https://www.linncountyhealth.org/adg/page/topic-month or contact Julie Greene of Linn County Health Services at 541-967-3819.

 

School is out for summer!

Happy summer vacation! School is out for summer break and will resume again in September. The District Office will be open all summer with Monday through Thursday summer hours in July. School offices will close in July and reopen in mid-August.

¡Felices vacaciones de verano! La escuela está cerrada por las vacaciones de verano y
se reanudará de nuevo en septiembre. La oficina del distrito estará abierta todo el
verano con horario de verano en el mes de julio de lunes a jueves. Las oficinas de las
escuelas cerraran en julio y volverán abrir a mediados de agosto.

The annual retiree celebration at the district office recognized the contributions of 33 GAPS teachers, classified staff and administrators who are leaving the District after serving Greater Albany students for a combined total of 478 years.
